Photokina Thoughts
It's that time again when the Cologne Messe holds its bi-annual Photokina. Halls full of photographic goodies that we may or may not need. Some quite mouth-watering equipment has already been released and there are, do doubt, many more to come. But are any of them really necessary?
Nikon D90: Real convergence?
The concept of a real convergence of stills and movies fascinates me and the Nikon D90 is the first real attempt to produce a camera capable to high quality images in both mediums.
Music for the Eyes
Music for the Eyes is a combined photography art show held at the 89 Mayne Street in Gulgong. Only five photographs are on display and so far only one of them has sold. It raises the question why isn't photography more collectable in Australia?
News
Phase One has announced a new shift lens for their digital camera ahead of Photokina. It is made as a joint venture with a company called Hartblei. Its main claim to fame to date has been modernised versions of the Russian Kiev 88 120 SLR cameras. Although they also offer a range of lenses for 35 and 120 cameras at very competitive prices. Interesting.

Canon EOS 5D with video capability
As Photokina approaches the camera makers are falling over themselves to release new models. Canon 5D with video capability looks particularly appealing and should ahve a big impact in the news market.
Rantings & Ravings
Other people have blogs, I have Rantings & Ravings. It amounts to the same thing except that I don't feel any need to reveal my innermost secrets or lecture readers on a daily basis. Every so often is often enough.
This my personal view and It may be about photography, or it may not.It depends upon what I find interesting at the time.
